Application  process

This center has already passed the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) evaluation of Chinese language centers in Taiwan. Therefore, if the course is more than 15 hours a week, you can apply the Visitor Visa (visa code FR) from the nearest ROC embassy with CLTSC admission letter. If the course is less than 15 hours a week, you can only enter the ROC border with general visa (Tourist Visa or Arrival Visa). These visas only allow visitors to stay for 30 to 90 days (The situation may differ from different countries, please consult the ROC embassy to confirm). When the Visas expire, they are not extendable within the ROC border. You have to depart from the ROC border so that you can enter the ROC border again which may influence your Chinese classes.

Step1) Required documents

1. NTTU CLTSC Application form
2. Survey of student’s language background: Please fill out and email to us. You may also complete a hardcopy, scan and email it to us.
3. A photocopy of your high school diploma or advanced degree
4. A photocopy of your passport's information page
5. A photocopy of a physical examination (Or complete a physical examination in Taiwan)
6. A Financial Statement
   • A financial statement issued within 3 months and shows an ending balance exceeding USD 2,000 or its equivalent.
   • If using a family member's financial statement, a guarantor letter stating willingness to support your stay in Taiwan is required.
   • If you are a scholarship recipient, you may submit your scholarship certificate in place of a financial statement. Proof of a bank loan can also be submitted in place of a financial statement.

※If your documents are not issued in Chinese or English, please have them translated by a certified translator.

 Step 2) Payment

1. Check and confirm your application and supporting documents. Admitted applicants will receive payment information and an admission letter.
2. Please note the following charges and fees. (NTD)
   • New Student Registration Fee: 1,000
   • 1/3 Tuition Fee
   • Housing fee and deposit (only for university dorm applicants)

 Step 3) Confirm your Visa

1. Need to Apply for Visa
   • Apply from VISA application system.
   • For applicants who require original documentation in order to apply for a visa, original admission letters are mailed via regular airmail.
   • Bring the CLTSC admission letter together with the Visa application to the ROC embassy.
2. No Need for a Visa
   • For applicants who are nationals of 90-days visa exempt entry countries or who have proof of legal residency in Taiwan.
   • Admission letters will be emailed.

※Notices: Applying the Visitor Visa for Studying Chinese Purpose (visa code FR), applicants are required to take classes for at least 15 hours per week. 

Step 4) Registration

1. Register and complete the payment at Taitung University. (NTTU only accepts NT dollars)
2. Take the placement test at CLTSC.

NTTU dormitory application and off-campus housing information

Due to the limited dormitory beds, we only accept university and graduate students for international students. Short-term Chinese learners may apply for NTTU accommodation from the Chinese Language Centre in advance, or rent their own rooms or seek host families in the nearby Taitung area. Life/Homework/psychological counseling

From 1:00P.M.-3:00P.M. every Monday, NTTUCLTSC is open for office hours, providing learning difficulties assistance, after-school guidance, life guidance, TOCLF registration and other related guidance and services. In addition to the regular tutoring hours, students can also come to the office for consultation at any time.

Cultural Experience Activities

NTTUCLTSC regularly organizes local cultural experience activities to help students understand local life and culture in Taitung, and promoting interaction between foreign students and their language  partners and teachers.

Other Learning Services

NTTUCLTSC also porvide . Planning by this centre for students of linguistics, communication topic every week, guided by the buddies, at least 2 hours per week, with main hope linguistics can help the center students daily life demand and Chinese schoolwork, to make the students more quickly into life in Taiwan, also can let students have more opportunities to practice oral English conversation in Chinese, improve Chinese level.

Taitung Scenery

Green island

This is an island paradise for nature lovers. The island is so small that visitors can circle the island in 30 minutes by motorcycle. The local "Asahi Hot Spring" is one of the only three underwater hot springs in the world. Every year, tourists from all over the world come to Green Island to dive and enjoy the stunning underwater scenery. More than 300 Marine species have been found in the adjacent waters of the islands. The islands have close access to rich coral communities. So far, 205 species of stony or soft corals have been found under the sea floor.

Chishang

Chishang Township is known for its "rice". During the rice harvest season, the rice fields are golden yellow and beautiful, and the bento made by Chishang Mi is a must-try food for tourists. Local famous tourist mecca "avenue" brown is a famous actor takeshi kaneshiro shot location filming ads, ads have a takeshi kaneshiro sitting along the lens under a big tree, this tree is called the "takeshi kaneshiro tree", this article straight avenue without a wire pole, only full of paddy fields, is now a well-known rural road cycling tourists.

Zhiben hot springs

Zhiben hot spring, which is famous for its bubble, is a well-developed and internationally famous hot spring tourist area in Taiwan, and is one of the eight famous scenic spots in Taiwan. The hot spring area contains many hot spring restaurants and hotels, and it is easy to experience the famous hot springs in this area. Nearby there are also white jade waterfall, Qingjue Temple, Zhiben forest recreation area, etc.

Lanyu

Orchid Island is an ancient volcanic island surrounded by coral, but also Taiwan is one of the diving sites. The local Da Wu people are famous for their jigsaw boats, silverware and pottery. Another important festival is the flying fish season, which can only be caught from March to July every year. Visitors can experience the traditional underground houses of the Wu ethnic group, watch the horned owls and coconut crabs at night on Orchid Island, and climb the ancient Great Tianchi crater on Orchid Island.
