Mandarin centers affiliated with universities in Taiwan offer winter and summer vacation programs or study tours suitable for various age groups. However, since the availability for such programs is limited, it is recommended that you start looking for a suitable Mandarin camp course 4–5 months in advance. Taiwan provides diverse pathways for international students to study in the country, including independently applying to pursue a degree or learn Mandarin, as well as coming to Taiwan as an exchange student or short-term trainee recommended by foreign institutions.

The Ministry of Education in Taiwan offers the Taiwan Scholarship to encourage outstanding foreign students to pursue degree programs in Taiwan, providing an opportunity to experience Taiwan's academic and educational environment. Additionally, the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is available to encourage foreigners to study Mandarin in Taiwan, gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture and society, and enhance international exchange and mutual understanding.

Schools within formal foreign education systems that plan to organize student groups for Mandarin study tours in Taiwan can apply through Taiwan's overseas missions. Each participant is eligible for a subsidy of NT$6,000 per week, with the subsidy typically covering a duration of 2 to 4 weeks.
Subsidized student groups should generally consist of at least 15 participants (including 1 to 2 accompanying instructors). The group must study at a university-affiliated Mandarin center in Taiwan, attending Mandarin courses for 5 days per week (excluding cultural visits), with a minimum of 15 hours of instruction per week.

Those interested in becoming professional Mandarin teachers can take the Ministry of Education's Certification Examination for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. The certification requires passing a total of five written and oral exams. Within the three-year validity period of passing scores, candidates must meet the language proficiency standards recognized by the examination. Upon meeting all requirements, the Ministry of Education will issue the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language Certification. Additionally, to promote Taiwan's high-quality Mandarin teaching and cultural heritage, the Ministry of Education has established the Guidelines for Subsidizing Mandarin Teachers to Teach Abroad.
