Application Information

Application Information Chinese language classes at the CLC are open to persons who possess at least high school diploma or its equivalent. Applicants are encouraged to have a good academic record and exhibit sincere interest in learning Chinese.

Owing to the large number of applications each quarter and in order to allow enough time for newly admitted students to receive a visa, prospective students are encouraged to submit their application materials as early as possible. All application materials will not be returned once submitted.

The CLC operates on a quarter basis, with new classes at all levels of instruction offered at the beginning of each period of study. A six-week Summer Session is also offered.

Required Documents

  • Application form, filled out with photo attached
  • Photocopy of the first page of passport (passport number, name and personal details and photograph must be clearly shown)
  • Health check report that includes chest x-ray test result (within 6 months)
  • Photocopy of diploma from highest level of education, a university acceptance letter for graduating high school/secondary education students, transcript or a prove of enrollment in school.
  • Financial Statement showing a minimum of US$2,500 bank account balance within 3 months (if statement is in parents name, please provide a cover letter from the parent ensuring your financial support)
  • One 2-inch photos (including the one on application form)

Notes: Excluding the diploma, all documents are required to be original copies (English or Chinese version accepted). If original documents cannot be supplied, photocopies will also be accepted only when they are stamped or granted by the issuing authority. All of the submitted documents will not be returned.

Related Assistance:

The CLC offers tailor made Intensive Mandarin program (IMP). These 2-to8-week classes are specially designed according to the requirements of each group of 8- 15 students. The IMP aims to increase the Chinese language proficiency and the understanding of Chinese culture. Practical extracurricular activities are included for students to experience the unique cultural characteristics of Taiwan. Classes are taught by experienced teachers.      The Chinese Language Center (CLC) was established in 1997 as part of extension education of National Sun Yat-sen University. All levels of standard and classical Chinese as well as Chinese culture are taught here. Students will be able to use their Chinese skills to obtain more professional knowledge, to be competent in career, and to realize the essence of local culture. Whatever your motivation or initial level is, the CLC will do all it can to ensure that you make rapid progress.

The CLC lies on the fourth floor of the International Research Building. It’s adjacent to the Hsitzu Bay and leans on the Longevity Mountain with the beautiful view of sea and mountain.
