Intensive Chinese Class

Class Introduction:

Time

Courses at our center are separated into four quarters: Spring quarter (March), Summer quarter (June), Fall quarter (September), and Winter quarter (December). Classes are from 9 to 12 a.m. every weekday. In the afternoon, students can do self-study or explore the beautiful city of Taichung.

Class Size
To maintain the quality of instruction, we limit attendance in our classes to a maximum of 16 students. Small classes not only ensure a comfortable learning environment but also provide ample opportunities for students to interact with their peers and teachers. This allows our students to quickly improve their Chinese ability.

Level
For students who have already studied Chinese in the past, it is important to select courses at an appropriate skill level. At NCHU’s Language Center, we provide two ways help you make the right choice:
1. For students who have not entered Taiwan, we provide an online test to assess your Chinese proficiency and arrange suitable classes based on the test result.
2. We invite students who are already in Taiwan: a placement test here at the Language Center. This will help us to get an idea of your level.
After the placement test, students can join two sessions for free, providing you with an opportunity to see whether the class and the textbook meets your needs and expectations. If they do not, you can switch classes.

Cultural Activities
The most popular course at our Center is one in which our students engage in a variety of cultural activities according to the seasons of the Chinese calendar. The activities in this courses include: writing Spring couplets, guessing lantern riddles, making fragrant sachets, Chinese knotting, Chinese painting, pottery,
maccrame, Mahjong and others. These courses will not only teach you about the beauty of traditional Chinese culture, but allow you to experience it firsthand.
