Features:
Located in a lush green valley, 20 minutes' walk to Palace Museum, 10 minutes to MRT stations by bus, and the adjacent hiking trails to a bird's eye view of the city, Chinese Language Center of Soochow University is the only one of its kind in Taiwan that offers learning and staying under one roof. The dorm is fully equipped with amenities such as coined laundry service, an easy public kitchen, air-con, lounge with TV, Karaoke and projector, a 24-7 PC lab and a study room, language classrooms, culture classrooms, free Wi-Fi, school library and gym. On top of these, learning partners of our school students are present during the camp to boost up learners' proficiency. Students practice and learn through theme based teaching and experience the cultures through culture class and excursions. They can quickly pick up the beauty of the culture, the people, and the language.
The program is designed on three axes of language acquisition, culture experiences, and excursion bundled with task based learning. Contents are as follows:
Language Acquisition:
- Placement teaching: students are taught at their own levels.
- Language class hours: 4 times each week and 3 hours each time (A.M.9:10~12:10).
- Multiple subjects and topics with daily practical survival skill language, fostering learners' four language skills.
- Appropriate learning contents: Instructors adjust the learning of difficulties based on students' needs and level of proficiency.
Culture Experiences:
- Class hours: 4 times each week and 3 hours each time (P.M. 13:00~16:00).
- The culture class focuses on the culture, history, art, and drama of Han people and indigenous people.
- Hands-on is the key spirit to culture class. Learners have chances to learn by doing and experience the culture.
Day Excursions:
- A single all-day and two half-day excursions let students go to famous culture spots in Taipei metropolis and northern Taiwan.
- Through excursions, learners gain the knowledge of historical events, life and culture.
