About the Position:

This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 36 Months. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term.
The incumbent provides flexible Chinese Mandarin Language training for US personnel and NATO members and partner nations while offering support through professional expertise and personal experience to Partner Language Training Center Europe (PLTCE) initiatives as directed by the Chair of the Strategic Language Department.

1.One year trial/probationary period may be required.

2.Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

3.Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

4.You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

5.Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.

6.Must be able to satisfy the requirements of the 26JUL12 DODI 1400.25 V1230, DoD Civilian Personnel Management System: Employment in Foreign Areas and Employee Return Rights.Visit http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/corres/pdf/140025v1230.pdf.

7.Tier 3 (ANACI) - This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

8.This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 36 Months. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term.

9.Chinese Mandarin language proficiency must be at the equivalent of General Professional Proficiency Plus Level or higher (equivalent to ILR Levels 3+/3+/3+/3 or higher). Testing may be required by the PLTCE Director.

10.English language proficiency must be at the equivalent of ILR Levels 2+/2+/2+/2 or higher. Testing may be required by the PLTCE Director.This position requires current, valid US work authorization at time of application.

Duties

1.Teach Chinese Mandarin to adult language learners at various levels of proficiency, including intermediate and advance.

2.Offer an intensive, student-centered teaching and learning environment.

3.Stay abreast of current foreign language teaching theories and methods.

4.Employ resources such as Smart Boards, the Internet, iPods, and Tablet PCs, and integrate technology in the classroom and in homework assignments.

5.Employ computer skills to organize data and teaching materials.

6.Support the Strategic Languages Department through instruction, administration, and special projects.

7.Teach speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through military, geopolitical, economic, social issues, and similar topics, in a language immersive/intensive environment.
